200th anniversary Herend exhibition in Tihany

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory Ltd., the exhibition entitled “Porcelain of Kings – King of Porcelains” was opened in the Gallery of the Tihany Benedictine Abbey Museum.

The exhibition presents the two-century history of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory, the tradition of artisan porcelain making and the Manufactory’s most famous works.

 

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Attila Simon, CEO of Herend Porcelain Manufactory Ltd., emphasized that Herend and the Tihany Benedictine Abbey are connected by mutual respect and friendly cooperation dating back many years. He emphasized that the uniqueness of Herend porcelain lies in the craftsmanship, patience, and perseverance required for porcelain making.

 

The CEO reminded that the Herend Porcelain Manufactory has successfully responded to the challenges of every historical era over the past two hundred years and is now one of the world’s leading porcelain manufactories applying artisan technology. Herend porcelain is a symbol of elegance and uniqueness, and as a Hungaricum, one of the best-known international representatives of Hungarian cultural heritage.

 

The exhibition features, among others, a porcelain replica of the Hungarian Holy Crown, a life-size bust of Sisi, monumental works painted with the Queen Victoria pattern, and the ornamental vase titled “The Queen’s Butterflies”.

 

The anniversary exhibition will be open until September 2, 2026.
